Pullus Pinot Noir 2011
This wine displays the fruit of pinot noir elegantly and gently. Very silky in texture and filled with all the right red berries. Slovenia is "more famous" for Bordeaux grapes like merlot and cabernet but they obviously can do other things! Strawberry, raspberry and tart pomegranate lead the wine with a touch of thyme stem and then a gentle nudge of baking spices from oak.
Goes well with: If you add a creamy note to the plate like mashed potatoes or perhaps a red wine reduction this wine will work with seared salmon. A natural fit with pork loin, roast chicken or turkey.
