The Estate: Château Corbin is one of the oldest estates in Saint-Emilion. The Corbin vineyards stretch uninterrupted over 13 hectares, situated in the commune of Saint-Emilion, bordering the Pomerol appellation area. The estate’s lands are made up of two soil types: ancient sandy soils on a ferruginous clay subsoil and clay soils.
The Vines: The grape varieties include 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The density of plantation is about 6,667 to 8,333 vines per hectare. The average age of the vines is about 30 years. At Château Corbin, they use integrated crop management and environmentally friendly viticulture.
Vinification: The grapes are picked by hand and fermented in temperature controlled vats. Maceration lasts from 3 to 4 weeks. The whole harvest is aged for 16 to 18 months in carefully selected French oak casks.
Wines and Production: The grand vin is Château Corbin and has a production of about 40,000 to 50,000 bottles per year. There is also a second wine, XX de Corbin.
